EEEEEEEEKKK!!! The little goth in you should be SCREAMING for joy, because Crypticon looks fun as HELL!
Held at the Hilton by the airport, May 22-24 will be the spookiest, scariest, thrilling-est weekend EVER. Until the Zombie Run, of course.
Do you love horror films so much that you still have a VHS player? There’ll be a VHS swap! OMFG. Not to mention the budding OrcaCon will be there to present horror/thriller-type games. The vendor room promises to be everything your little black soul could desire, and events include a VIP party and ROCKY HORROR presented by the Blue Mouseketeers. Squee! Panels abound, and everything you could possibly want to know about horror makeup will knock your socks off. This is most likely the only convention that features not only a cosplay contest, but a costume contest, writing contest, and a makeup contest as well. Of course, the convention wouldn’t be complete without a film festival of shorts and feature length films, screening mostly Saturday.
Performances include Wreckless Freeks, involving circus acts with dangerous elements and sharp objects; Seattle Thrillers as a tribute to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video; and Neighbours favorite Roxy Doll‘s Drag Show (Friday night)! There’ll even be a burlesque show before drag! And for your dancing and drinking needs, attend the Prom of the Dead on Saturday or the Biohazard Party on Friday and Saturday nights. Also: mmmm, cake…Horror cake decorating tips and a Horror Cake Lab by Barbarann Garrard of Cake Rhapsody will whet your appetite with the most realistically gory decadences you’ve ever seen. A rousing game of Slasher Tag seems every bit as fun as the title, too!
Before you turn your eyes away from this article, I forgot to mention the celebrities! Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn of Twin Peaks, Denise Crosby (who knew she did stuff other than Star Trek?), Michael Berryman (Weird Science), and many more stars from some of the best horror flicks will be there to indulge your nerd squee. If only Sharon Needles would show up…
Tickets will be available at the door, so line up quickly if you haven’t already bought them online! Everything from B-movie slash to high-budget trash awaits your bloodlusty heart!
