The Seattle Aquarium’s Queer Community Day Is October 15th

October 3, 2023• byMichael Strangeways

And, yes, they WILL have a drag brunch…WITH FISH STICKS!!!!

I keed, I keed…mostly.

The Seattle Aquarium has “Community Days” throughout the year honoring individual community groups (or, a clever marketing move to get folks into the Aquarium!) and on Sunday, October 15th, it’s the LGBTQ+ community being singled out with a full day of events for every member of the community, including Drag Queen Story Time for the kiddies plus a more adult drag queen show in the late afternoon!

There’s no Brunch and no fish sticks will be served. Just phishy looks. We hope.

There’s even a presentation called “The Ocean is Queer” at 1:15pm…we’re guessing it’s about the diversity of the ocean including the very interesting reproductive habits of seahorses and not about what does on under the dock at Provincetown at 1 o’clock in the morning…though, that is certainly quite queer.

More skinny on the drag show:

Prepare to slay the bay at Reef Royalty, a marine-themed drag show at the Seattle Aquarium for our Queer Community Day!

Hosted by Howie Echo-Hawk and featuring Baby, Kylie Mooncakes, Leo Mane, D Dynasty and DJ Toya B. Curated by Indigenize Productions.

Don’t forget to bring cash to tip the queens!!!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
