MEEEEE-YOW!!! The best day of the year in Seattle is when the kitty cats take over the city and run things the RIGHT way meaning everyone does what they say. Which mainly includes adopting an adorable pussy from the Seattle City Animal Shelter on Thursday, April 11th when KITTY HALL takes over City Hall for a special pet adoption event. This year’s event is even more special because it falls on National Pet Day AND because for the first time, guinea pigs will also be in the mix for adoption…which frankly irritates the cats because they don’t like the focus of the event being taken away from them so it’s likely that one or more cats may vomit on your pillow in retaliation. That’s how cats roll.
And, why we love them.
All the info from the press release is down below so if you’re in the market for a new feline friend, (or, for those inclined, a guinea pig…) here’s the kitty poo:
Kittens and Critters to Take Over “Kitty Hall” for Citywide Adoption Event on April 11
SEATTLE, WA – The cutest and cuddliest event of the year will happen on Thursday, April 11, with the return of “Kitty Hall,” a beloved citywide adoption event where adoptable kittens and cats take over Seattle City Hall for the day.
Hosted by the City’s Seattle Animal Shelter, the event invites members of the public to meet, greet and hopefully adopt a kitten or cat in the shelter’s care. This year’s event is special in two ways: first, it falls on National Pet Day and second, for the first time ever, kittens will be joined by cuddly critters, guinea pigs, who are also looking for forever homes.
WHAT: Seattle Animal Shelter’s Annual Kitty Hall
WHEN: Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
WHERE: Seattle Kitty Hall’s Bertha Knight Landes Room, 600 Fourth Ave.
Members of the public can visit several kitty stations to meet cats and kittens eligible for adoption, visit booths with information on renewing a pet license and other outreach services available, as well as snap a photo in the Kitty Cam Photo Booth. And of course, members of the public will have a chance to cast their vote for adoptable adult cats who are vying to be named the “Kitty Council President.”
The shelter will also have a couple of special guests—guinea pigs, Gabby and P.B.—who are also up for adoption and looking for a loving home.
All of the kittens, cats and critters at Thursday’s event will be available for adoption, and adopters will be able to take home their cat or critter as soon as they complete their adoption paperwork at the event.
Not able to attend the event but interested in adoption or fostering? No problem. Visit the Seattle Animal Shelter web page today to learn about adoptable pets and foster opportunities: www.seattle.gov/animal-shelter
