“Queer” Hits The Big Screen November 27th

November 1, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

It’s the new film by queer director Luca Guadagnino and based on the novel by the also very queer William S. Burroughs and stars….007. It’s QUEER and judging by word of mouth, early reviews, and the gorgeous trailer, it should be a must see awards season LGBTQ movie for fans of quality cinema.

Guadagnino makes lush films on queer subjects; we’re still swooning at the memories of his very successful “Call Me By Your Name” which we’re shocked to remember is from all the way back in 2017. Since then, he’s also done a very sapphic remake of the horror film Suspiria, which polarized audiences (I love it, though it’s a tad longer that it should be) and the quirky cannibal love story, Bones & All.

Check it out.

NO ONE IS EVER REALLY ALONE

Watch the trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s QUEER, a generational love story written by Justin Kuritzkes and based on the novel by William S. Burroughs.

1950. William Lee, an American expat in Mexico City, spends his days almost entirely alone, except for a few contacts with other members of the small American community. His encounter with Eugene Allerton, an expat former soldier, new to the city, shows him, for the first time, that it might be finally possible to establish an intimate connection with somebody.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
