Warner Bros. Discovery Presents Bugs Bunny at the Symphony this weekend, Fri/Sat/Sun at Benaroya Hall! See some of your favorite classic Looney Tune cartoons from the 40s/50s featuring beloved cartoon characters Bug Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig and many more! This year’s edition celebrates not only Bugs Bunny’s 85th anniversary but the 35th anniversary of this concert event series which has been delighting audiences since the days of Bill Clinton!
For those of you not familiar, the cartoons will be projected on a giant screen above the onstage Seattle Symphony who will play the classic scores to the cartoons LIVE! The series was conceived by George Daugherty and David Ka Lik Wong and Daugherty will conduct.
Much of the music is from the original Looney Tunes composers, Carl W. Stalling and Milt Franklyn but of course the cartoons frequently used classical music as well, most notably in the beloved opera parodies like “What’s Opera, Doc?” and “The Rabbit of Seville”.
