Strike A Pose At Three Dollar Bill’s “Seattle Is Burning” Event

Just in time for Pride Month, Three Dollar Bill Cinema and the Seattle Film Societey are teaming up for SEATTLE IS BURNING, a special one night event celebrating ballroom culture, queer film, community and the history of ballroom in Seattle. It’s happening TUESDAY, June 16th at Hidden Hall in Fremont and includes…well, it includes A LOT! Three Dollar Bill will announce the recipient of their first Queer Cinema Fellowship plus SWACE Health will present a ballroom presentation.

And, of course there will be films screening including the brilliant 1990 documentary PARIS IS BURNING which really first brought ballroom to the outside world….and, certainly influenced a lot of people including Madonna and RuPaul and every drag queen who has ever walked a stage in the years since the film debuted. Oh, and of course there will be a DJ dance party after the film!

On June 16th, Three Dollar Bill Cinema & the Seattle Film Society invite you to SEATTLE IS BURNING, a one-night celebration spotlighting new voices and the enduring power of ballroom culture.

We’ll begin by announcing the winner of Three Dollar Bill’s first-ever Queer Cinema Fellowship, followed by a local short film and a screening of PARIS IS BURNING: the seminal 1990 documentary featuring the iconic NYC ballroom scene.

After the screening, SWACE Health will lead a special ballroom presentation and community Q&A diving into the history, impact, and current state of Seattle’s ballroom scene. This is your chance to learn, connect, and celebrate a culture that continues to shape queer expression worldwide.

Then keep the energy going at our late-night party and celebrate into the night with community.
