Multi hyphenate community leader/organizer and event producer AND DJ and all the other 23,678 hats she wears LA Kendall LaBree started the DO SOMETHING ALREADY community a 501(c)(3) non-profit 3 years ago with wife Amy, to, well…DO SOMETHING to help not only the LGBTQ+ community in general, but to specifically seek out individuals and groups that need some aid in some form or the other…from giving them an actual helping hand, or a bit of promotion, and when push comes to shove, good ole hard CASH to get through tough times or even move to the next level in their growth.
Do Something Already has several programs they focus on during the year and right now their goal is awareness for the StarLights StarBrights Fund which “is dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ individuals who may be facing hardships and lack family during the holiday season. We understand that this time can especially difficult, often resulting in feelings of isolation and higher suicide rates among those who grew up in unaccepting environments. Our goal is to ease these challenges by providing resources that allow LGBTQ+ individuals to celebrate the holidays. By offering financial assistance and support, we aim to dismantle the barriers that contribute to the struggles within our community, creating moments of joy and connection that reflect the spirit of DOING SOMETHING ALREADY.”
Right now, they’re looking for folks to nominate deserving candidates to receive some help during the upcoming holidays with $250 grants to 8 LGBTQ+ individuals in Thurston, Pierce or King County of Western Washington. Details below but here’s the link to nominate someone (and, yes, you can nominate yourself!): https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/YsBZA5uajC
Deadline is November 6th!!!
Introducing the 3rd Annual “StarLights StarBrights” Fund
This year, Do Something Already is proud to offer financial support through our 3rd Annual “StarLights StarBrights” fund. We’re providing $250 grants to eight (8) LGBTQ+ individuals in Thurston, Pierce or King County who are experiencing financial difficulties and might not have family to celebrate with, or a support system to lean on. These funds can be used for “Friendsgiving” groceries, holiday gifts, or contributions to chosen family meals. Maybe the funds are needed to pay an overdue bill – that’s ok too!
How You Can Help
Please spread the word about these grants within your networks. Share this opportunity on your social media, in newsletters, or on bulletin boards. The application process is simple, and the form can be completed by the individual seeking assistance or by someone nominating them.

microsoft/r/YsBZA5uajC Applications are open now, and the deadlines for both Thanksgiving and Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza support are detailed on the application form. All applicants must be part of the LGBTQIA+ community, be 18+, be able to meet our Board or Directors in person to receive the award and demonstrate a need.
We’re also asking recipients to participate in providing photos and videos of what it means to receive the award, or how they used their awards, so we can share and highlight these joyful moments with our grassroots donors and supporters.
Thank you for helping us spread the word and support our community during this festive season. Together, we can do something already and help to make a meaningful difference.
