Then you should submit it to SIFF!
Yes, the behemoth that is SIFF has already begun reviewing submissions for 2012, and the earlybird deadline for submissions is November 4, 2011. If you’ve been to SIFF, you know that every genre is fair game. Earlybird submissions enjoy a massively discounted submission fee ($35, versus the $100 if it’s not submitted until the last deadline in January…) but for Washington State filmmakers, if 50% or more of your film was SHOT in Washington, then you don’t have to pay a submission fee at all! Even better!
In addition to the glory and massive cred that comes with playing at SIFF, the Festival also offers cash and prizes for juried and audience award winners. From SIFF.net:
This year, in addition to our Golden Space Needle Audience Awards, SIFF is proud to offer $8,000 in cash prizes in the following juried categories:
$2,500 – New Directors Competition (International 1st and 2nd time directors)
$2,500 – Documentary Competition
$1,000 – Short Film: Live Action
$1,000 – Short Film: Animation
$1,000 – Short Film: DocumentaryThese internationally juried awards are given for excellence in filmmaking, form and content. Additional prizes of goods and services will also be awarded, including a Macintosh Computer System, courtesy of The Mac Store and $1,000 of film stock from the Eastman Kodak Company to the winner of the Golden Space Needle Audience Award for Best Short Film.
C’mon Seattle! Let’s see ’em!
