Why you should see The Drowsy Chaperone

October 27, 2008• byBill W

Why the gays will like Drowsy Chaperone:

  • The lead character is a very ambiguous man when it comes to his sexuality. There are even a few jokes hinting that he may be gay (but it never really comes out).
  • The drowsy (or should we say tipsy) chaperone in the show is a MAJOR diva. She lives life and loves the bottle. She goes through life in a glorious Champagne haze and even sings about it.
  • It won the most Tony awards in 2006, including Original Score and Costume Design and the only reason it didn’t win best musical is because Jersey Boys won that season.
  • It’s campy and witty.
  • This cast has Georgia Engel who played the hilarious Georgette Baxter from Mary Tyler Moore fame.
  • Here is some flashbacks of Georgia Engel as the ditsy Georgette Baxter:

A few good tickets do still remain but they will go fast once this production begins so get your tickets now.
