Two beers have stood out above all the rest for me during this trip to Australia. They are such mainstream premium beers here that it is almost seems silly to write about them. The two that stand out with such wonderfully rich flavor are Crown Premium Lager which is made by the Foster’s Group and James Boag Premium Lager from Tasmania.
There is a reason that Crown Lager accounts for 33% of the premium beer market in Australia.
Crown has an initial fruity flavour followed by a rich malty flavour, followed by a crisp hop finish.
I sampled many other beers from Victoria Bitter to Cascade but none of the others came close in my opinion. Maybe it is not fair of me to compare a Premium Lager with other standard beers. But there it is, my new favorite passion in Australia. At least until tomorrow.
