Anya Marina and Torrini together at the Croc

August 16, 2009• bySeattle Gay Scene

Anya Marina swings through town on Monday August 17, at the Crocadile Cafe, opening for singer Emiliana Torrini.

Of course, you know Emiliana Torrini, who’s Icelandic background and voice has many comparing her to Björk. And Torrini is such a talented singer (She sung the ending ballad “Gollum’s Song” in the film The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers).

But add opener Anya Marina into Monday’s lineup and you’ve got yourself a wonderful show. I’m a big fan of Anya’s sultry sexy voice but who could resist her masterful mix of so many music genres.

This lady really is a vamp,” declared People, “seducing you with a sultry mix of pop, folk, blues, jazz, even bossa nova – and a Lolita-like voice that brings to mind a naughty Corinne Bailey Rae.”

The show starts at 8pm with tickets just $15 in advance. Ages 21 and over. More details at thecrocodile.com.

A little inspiration, here’s Anya’s newest video, All The Same To Me:
