The Village Theatre, based in Issaquah, will mark their 30th anniversary with a great lineup of performances.
First up, the West Coast Premiere of a the new musical comedy:
CHASING NICOLETTE

This piece is created by Disney composer and conductor David Friedman (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hunchback, Lizzie McGuire) along with two-time Tony award nominee Peter Kellogg (Anna Karenina).
This hilarious yet touching new musical charts the love between a Christian count and a Muslim princess in a time of war, hatred, and prejudice – except that the year happens to be 1224. Based on the French Romance, “Aucassin and Nicolette,” Chasing Nicolette confronts the two lovers with endlessly hysterical obstacles: angry parents, murky dungeons, swashbuckling swordplay, a man-hungry convent school graduate, and one very put-upon servant.

This remarkable coming of age story is about two young brothers who are forced to enter a dysfunctional household consisting of their formidable grandmother, their dim-witted aunt, and their Uncle Louie, a small-time thug. As comical as it is poignant, this Neil Simon masterwork is an examination of lives in an oppressive household, with a dramatic climax that will certainly leave you spellbound.

The Gypsy King will bring over-the-top hilarity to Village Theatre’s Mainstage.
