Polls show support for Ref. 71 is growing

October 27, 2009• bySeattle Gay Scene

A new poll from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner posted on The Stranger shows that some of the likely voters who had said they would reject Ref. 71 in a previous poll are now undecided. 53% said they will vote to Approve Ref. 71 and 36% said they would reject it, a 17-point spread.

But the reality is this. Many people have not voted yet despite having their ballot in a hand and “Every year thousands of ballots are not counted because people mail them after the last pick-up at the mail box.” I certainly hope that at least you’ve mailed back your ballot but you need to keep reminding your family, friends and co-workers to mail them in. Offer them agreement over other issues and candidates that they are supporting but ask them to do a big favor for you by Approving Ref. 71 and mailing back the ballot ASAP.

You also have to watch this excellent video about Ref. 71 posted over at the Stranger from last night’s Colbert Report.

UPDATE: A recent poll from The Washington Poll shows support for Approving Ref. 71 at 57% – 38% with only 5% undecided. An unmentioned factor could be that more Seattleites are likely voters (many have already voted) with the new vote-by-mail system.
