Request by Ref. 71 Opponents Rejected by Federal Judge

October 27, 2009• bySeattle Gay Scene

A federal judge has rejected an immediate request to hide donors and lift the donor limit, from the Family PAC, a last minute PAC formed to repeal domestic partnerships through Ref. 71.

The group wants the federal court to immediately order the state not to enforce its ban on large last minute contributions. The group also wants to hide the names of those donating to the campaign. The group claimed that Washington’s disclosure laws violate free speech rights. The judge rejected the immediate request while the lawsuit will still proceed.

More details are here.
