There was a lot more activity in the bars on Capitol Hill then I’d expected. Finding parking was a complete nightmare which I guess is just more of a reason not to be driving when we go out. Even the paid lots were full.
But as expected The Lobby bar was packed beyond belief. All the publicity is beginning to show and The Lobby has become the hottest new thing on Capitol Hill. The vibe at The Lobby bar has a very gay core but quite straight on its edges. And everything appears to be shaping up exactly how the owners envisioned, maybe even better, as an upscale venue where gays and non-gays can feel comfortable and celebrate together. Drink lines were impossibly long and after a drinkless 15 minutes I felt a need to flee to a less chaotic environment.
Earlier in the evening Gaysha Starr held her “Bedazzled” event featuring an all-star lineup of 15 drag queens at Neighbours Nightclub and raised $2500 for GLSEN. (see picture above)
Cuff Complex started out like just any other average night but by midnight the crowd had really grown and the dance floor was packed. DJ Matt Stands is one of the best in Seattle and knows how to work the dance floor. By the way today is DJ Matt Stands birthday. He turns 33 today and is celebrating at Bar Myx on February 5, 2010. Everyone is invited and details are on Facebook.
Next weekend is the 5th Saturday of the month so expect a lot of special events from Sylvia O’Stayformore’s Magnum Men at Rebar to Le Freak Queer Party with DJ Amateur Youth at Wildrose and even DJ Joe King spins at Purr Cocktail Lounge. Watch for our Gay Weekend Calendar on Wednesday.
