The PRIDE Interfaith Worship Service will be held on Saturday, June 26, at 2pm, at All Pilgrims Christian Church, 500 Broadway E. on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. Reflections on the theme “Made in the Image of the Creator” will be given by members of the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist faith communities.
Rev. Ray Neal, senior pastor of Emerald City Metropolitan Community Church, says that his congregation, an LGBT church, encouraged him to reach out to other faith communities to develop, plan, and promote this event. That group has worked together for the last two months to plan the joint worship event.
Darren Hochstedler, the music director for Emerald City MCC Seattle, will lead the music for the service. Darren invites all interested persons to meet at 12:30pm just before the worship service on June 26 to form an LGBT community chorus for the service. Darren says all you need is “a desire to make a joyful noise.”
On the same day as the PRIDE Interfaith Worship Service, the Capitol Hill Pride Festival on Broadway will be taking place on the five blocks surrounding All Pilgrims Church so plan on spending the day at the festivities.
All Pilgrims’ congregation is a diverse mix of people – young and old, men and women, gay and straight. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds, both cultural and professional. For more info about the Church, visit www.allpilgrims.org.
