Great turn out for Tuesday night’s Golden Girls themed event at Purr! About 150 people showed up to support the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and watch some classic moments from eveyone’s favorite sitcom, The Golden Girls. The raffle raised $450 for the Susan G Foundation, which had special meaning for many attending the event.
Art Ruiz, the event creator said, “I wanted to do something to celebrate Barbie’s recent struggles. [Editor’s Note: Purr owner Barbie Humphrey has been battling the disease, which she has frequently posted about on her Facebook page.]She gives so much back to the community. The House of Purr is always open to support causes on the Hill”.
Hostess Sylvia O’Stayformore commented, “It was a good cause and I am happy to support Barbie!”. We were also desperate to know who Sylvia was wearing, and she told us: “Goodwill Puyallup, for all of you fashionistas!”.
Sylvia and Barbie announce the raffle winner…they got the 25th Anniversary Golden Girl’s DVD set that came in a replica of Sophia’s wicker purse.
