We reported on last week’s burglary at Capitol Hill’s Dunshee House a few days ago but to refresh your memory, the beloved home of the Seattle AIDS Support Group and other LGBTQ organizations had their office ransacked and items stolen the night of November 29. Obviously, this is bad news for anyone who’s been the victim of such a crime, but it can be especially devastating to a non-profit organization that operates on a small budget; replacing the stolen electronic can be prohibitively expensive, even with insurance, and when computers are stolen, thousands of hours of work and information could be lost. It’s a major loss for them, and not necessarily one that their current Christmas Tree Sales fundraiser can alleviate.
Happily, the very nice folks at The Capitol Club are putting together a benefit/fundraiser for Dunshee House, next Tuesday, December 14 starting at 6pm and going all night. They’re calling the event, “You’re A Mean One, Mr Grinch!! A Fundraiser for the Dunshee House” and they’ve got all sorts of activities planned:
In lieu of the recent burglarization of the Dunshee House, The Capitol Club is throwing a charity wine tasting, silent auction, raffle, and party!! The Dunshee House has been serving the Seattle area with countless counseling services to those living with or around HIV/AIDS since 1983!!!! Let’s get together our holiday cheer and help raise money for what was stolen and more!! $25 Wine Tasting 6-9PM; Silent Auction All Night; DJ & Dancing 10PM-Close!! 21+ / Invite all your friends…. SEE YOU THERE!!
Check it out. The Capitol Club is at 414 East Pine Street on Capitol Hill.
