Duh! I mean, Capitol Hill’s monthly 2nd Thursday of the month Art Walk is always some degree of gay. I mean, it’s Capitol Hill!!!! How could it not contain considerable elements of the L, the G, the B, the T and plenty of the Q??!? If it didn’t, it would be pretty boring.
So, of course you can expect TONS of queer art on Thursday, June 8th with many of the venues showcasing art from LGBTQ+ artists. And, some of them have very specific themed shows for June including Vermillion Art Gallery & Bar on 11th Avenue and Steve Gilbert Studios annual Fruition show on 10th Avenue. Oh, and this year we have a show full of…PEEN!
Check out the entire art walk (WITH A MAP!) at their website: https://capitolhillartwalk.com/ . But, let’s look at some of the more overtly queer shows this month.
First up, is Vermillion since they’re having a big anniversary this year as they turn 15. Their MIGHTY REAL! It’s a queer art show, Henny! opens on Thursday (from 6pm to 9pm) and runs through the end of the month. AND, it features so many great local queer artists including:

They also have some secret skinny on the after party:
… and follow the party later to The Mercury for BERLIN10, our ArtWalk Party After Dark with DJ Pavone on deck, and cheap drinks at the bar! Use the special word at the door for entrance. We can’t say it here, but will be posting details soon. So say you’re coming and you’ll be notified!
See you then!

And, finally, that naughty PALACE OF PEEN SHOW at Passable Art, 1005 E Union St:
Come join us on June 8th for the “Palace of Peen (PoP)”
Open 5–9 pm for the Capitol Hill Art Walk.
Societally, the male organ has evolved into a symbol of the darker side of masculinity and sexuality. Intimidation, domination, force, a subject of fear hidden from the public eye. In addition, our collective unconscious prohibits their public, mutual display in a room together lest we evoke the “threat” of homosexuality. PoP seeks to reclaim the penis, honoring its positive root as a source of affection, humor, and, dare we say, pride. We celebrate the utterly warm and generous humanity at the core of masculine love with a decadent and abundant plethora of penises in a humorous array.
