We Adore Bridget Everett! Come See Her At The Moore!

It’s funny…singer/actress/comedian BRIDGET EVERETT was one of those hidden treats that not everyone knew about. Over the years in NYC she had earned herself a name as a beloved cabaret performer but…she still had to work as a waitress to pay the bills. Circa 2013/14 she made appearances on Inside Amy Schumer and began drawing more national attention and around 2015 she did national tours of smaller cabaret venues, including stops in Seattle’s intimate Jewelbox Theatre at the Rendezvous in Belltown.

Then, a little show on HBO appeared in 2022 called Somebody Somewhere. It was a delightfully small scale comedy centered on Bridget’s character, Sam who returns to her hometown of Manhattan, Kansas to care for her dying sister. The show became a sleeper hit largely fueled by LGBTQ fans who were delighted by the charm of the show and its many queer characters which included Jeff Hiller as Sam’s best gay friend Joel, and the hilarious transgender New York host and comedian Murray Hill as Fred Rococo, an agricultural professor at Kansas State University. The quirky charms of the show earned it a Peabody Award and just earlier this week, the show earned two Emmy nominations, one for Jeff Hiller as best supporting actor, and a writing nomination for Bridget Everett and the show’s two co-creators for penning the show’s final episode. (And, it’s ridiculous that Bridget didn’t get a Best Actress nomination or the show a Best Comedy nomination but the Emmys have always been stupid…)

We personally love the show because it’s set in our neck of the woods (growing up) Manhattan Kansas and it’s a rare look at life for LGBTQ and allies living in the Midwest. And, we’ve been to Manhattan…many times! Note: it’s not quite as groovy as it was portrayed in the show but they filmed it in suburban Chicago so we’ll cut them some slack.

Bridget is taking advantage of her new found fame and she’s embarking on a national tour with her band Tender Moments playing bigger theaters including Seattle Theatre Group’s The Moore on Sunday, August 3rd! It’s much like her NYC act…a naughty, raunchy night of comedy and risque music fueled by Everett’s larger than life sexy persona.

She’s a lotta fun in the old school “big belting bawdy broad” school of lounge act/cabaret star and we J’ADORE her!!
