Safe Schools Coalition presents Oscar Winner Debra Chasnoff’s:
It’s STILL Elementary
Talking About Gay Issues In School
Sunday, March 9th at 2:00 PM
Broadway Performance Hall Capitol Hill, Seattle
This is a follow up documentary from It’s Elementary, released a decade ago, which will also be featured along with a panel discussion with the director Debra Chasnoff and subjects from the film, including SSC CoChairs Beth Reis and Frieda Takamura, facilitated by Aleksa Manila. Following the performance there will be a free VIP reception.
With the recent unfortunate murder of 14-year old California student LAWRENCE KING by a fellow student – it reminds us of the harsh reality of the school system with our youth & adults – students and teachers alike who face discrimination. We quickly dismiss the impact of bullying at school… not realizing its long term effects or immediate effects that threaten the innocent lives of our LGBTQ brothers & sisters, both young and old. Not to mention, the recent hate speeches Ken Hutcherson made at Mt. Si High School.
There is probably not a more important issue for the entire LGBT community at this moment in this country.
