If you’re more into pop standards than being a hip scenester, then the 5th Avenue Theater’s “My Funny Valentine” concert happening Saturday the 12th at 8pm and Sunday, the 13th at 3pm might be more your speed. Join local/national performers like Mimi Hines, Shelly Burch, Sarah Rudinoff, Brandon O’Neill, Nick Garrison, Kim Huber and a 30-piece onstage orchestra, conducted by the 5th Avenue’s own Ian Eisendrath for a night of beloved show tunes, classic standards and a love song or two. It will be “some enchanted evening…” Or, afternoon if you go Sunday.
For folks looking for a bit more formality, you have the option of the Rosehedge/Multifaith Works Dinner and Dance “Love Without Boundaries” at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel happening Sunday, February 13. Hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist David Horsey, and featuring music by singer Dina Blade, the event is the major fundraiser for Rosehedge, which recently merged with Multifaith Works to provide housing, care and counseling for vulnerable people with HIV/AIDS. For tickets and more information, go to the website.
Lobby Bar is kindly extending a hand to those of us without lov-uhs by throwing “Single “Ladies” Pre-Valentine’s Day Party on Sunday night starting at 6pm and encouraging single folks to turn out and find themselves a partner for life…or, the evening. The Justice League Volleyball Team will be on hand…I’m not sure what they’re DOING at the event, but since they are undoubtedly athletic, at least they will be eye-candy.
On the day itself, Monday the 14th, The Seattle Eagle is having a “Heart Attack Valentine’s Day” w/Dj Lonnie Devine & Mikey at the Bar. No cover and they promise “lots of Valentine Kisses” to go around as they spin many of your favorite songs from super Seattle group, Heart. Maybe the Wilson Sisters will show up and sing a few bars…
Dat’s all I got for now…I’m guessing more bars have some events planned. We’ll try and trackem down for you and we’ll update as needed.
If all else fails, there’s always Craigslist…
