The Imperial Court of Seattle is about love, compassion and having fun

April 3, 2008• bySeattle Gay Scene

The Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle represents what coming together as community is all about. We are all familiar with people prancing around with tiaras on their heads…but what does it all mean. I learned more about the enigmatic Organization that is the ISCS after sitting down with Ryan Hazy, a member of the Organization for almost three years.

The group’s work focuses mostly on bringing the community together just to plain have fun. But they also raise money for charities while doing it. Yes, we know the stereotypes of a drag queen, but have you honestly taken a seat down to talk with one and get to know what they are about and why they do what they do? Probably not. Well, This Saturday is your chance to do that. The Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle will be holding its annual Imperial Prince and Princess Ball. This an event where the community has voted on who they want to see represent the organization in various cities and to help the Emperor and Empress.

It’s really an amazing experience to see such a small group of people working together to build a community of happiness and kindness but most importantly, something we all need in our lives: a community of love & compassion & understanding.
