Much better than I was expecting, the It’s About Life Gay Expo at the Convention Center offered everything and more. While the early Saturday morning crowds were thin due to the Fremont Parade, it did not damper the enthusiasm of exhibitors and gays in attendance.
I got tons of freebies including sample bottles of Olive Oil from Whole Foods, gourmet canned dog food, a really cool wooden candle holder from Costco and even sampled some awesome fillet steak sandwiches from Morton’s. Seattle’s Renaissance Hotel offered free mocktails in cool pink plastic souvenir martini glasses.
UnderU4Men was there to announce the location of their first store in Seattle at 709 Broadway East. They had a pile of various designer underwear brands that they were offering at 50% off during the Gay Expo. Throughout the exhibit space the products and services ranged from waxing and spa services to special hygienic toilets. Very impressive to see all these companies under one roof offering their services to LGBT community.
Off to the side was an entire room set up with tables and chairs and even couches for viewing the entertainment throughout the weekend. There was a beer garden serving special Pearl Vodka and Aha Toro Tequila drinks on top of the normal full bar offerings.
It was a bit hard for me to find the Expo at first but just come straight up the Convention Center’s escalators right off of Pike Street to the 6th Level. Once there you won’t miss the huge Gay Expo banners. It just feels good being in there. The only thing missing is YOU. If you are waiting until Sunday, no need to, since admission gets you into both Saturday and Sunday.
The Gay Expo goes till 7 pm tonight, Saturday June 21 with music from Ari Gold and Liz Clark. On Sunday June 22 the Expo starts at 10 am and goes until 4 pm. More info is available at their website.
