The owner is cautiously optimistic that he and his partner can have the restaurant open by Thursday June 26th. Pike’s Bar & Grill is operated by Charlie Harris, a cook who has been perfecting his recipes for quite a while, and his partner Mike Johnstone. They are going to try another soft opening, just with friends, in advance of Thursday to see how things are working.
The menu is going to be really good. Less “foodie” and more of a menu of good quality home style cooking with moderate pricing. As Capitol Hill restaurants make the massive transition from divy to über hip, it is a refreshing relief to have something that is in between and down to earth, yet it has a nice upscale atmosphere and will be so gay-friendly.
