Vancouver Pride is coming very, very soon. It’s on Sunday August 3rd. And did you even book a hotel yet?!
Last year Vancouver Pride was a mess. Way too many people to the point you could not even watch the Parade anywhere along the route. Sort of like Seattle Pride on Broadway three years ago. The Vancouver Pride Parade is projected 500,000 – up 300,000 from 2005. I told myself I would not go again. But here I am going up again but supposedly they have expanded the Parade route starting at Robson and Thurlow and actually going down Robson to Denman before continuing on Beach and ending at the festival. Cool!
What is interesting this year, is on Friday August 1st, there will be a Dance Party on Davie Street (between Burrard and Bute) from 7 pm – 11 pm with live DJ stages and a beer garden. It’s free, all ages access and the drinking area only requires you to be 19 or older!
On Sunday August 3rd, the Parade does not start until noon which gives you plenty of time to sleep in, eat breakfast, and even check out of your hotel.
The Pride Festival also starts at noon and goes until 6 pm on Sunday but most of you will be long gone by then in order to cross back over the border and get back to Seattle.
Soon we will be breaking down the Pride Parties in Vancouver for you. What’s hot and what’s…well…not as hot. Already some of the parties are possibly sold out and the liquor board has just extended the drinking hours until 4 am for for the circuit parties including Sunday night’s RAPTURE: RE-BIRTH Party with powerhouse DJ Peter Rauhofer! Oh dear…Looks like Monday is going to be a sick day at work.
I have more coming for you so be sure to check back. For now go to Vancouver Pride for detailed info.
