As the hydroplane racing fans invade Seattle over the weekend many will flee the city for Vancouver, Canada’s Pride Celebration. Vancouver is located as close as 2.5 hours from Seattle.
Vancouver’s Pride Parade is Sunday from noon to 2.
The Pride Festival is from noon to 6 pm.
Many different Pride events for all tastes.
Some of the hotter events for the weekend:
FRIDAY:
Nocturnal with DJ Tony Moran – $65 – 10 pm to 7 amRapture Black – CANCELLED – $30 – 9 pm to 3 am
SATURDAY:
Cabana Daze Pool Party – $25 – 2 pm to 7 pm
(Pacific Palisades says the Pool Party goes on)Rapture Mardi Gras – CANCELLED – $50 – 9 pm to 5 am
SUNDAY:
Cream – $25 – 8 pm to 3 am
Freedom Party – $70 – 10 pm to 8 amRapture Carnivale – CANCELLED – $65 – 9 pm to 6 am
MONDAY [still haven’t had enough?]:
Re-Charge – $30 – 7 am to 2 pmRapture Rehab – CANCELLED – 6 am to 2 pm
The gay clubs are also having events:
Odyssey will be having their weekly Fallen Angel event ($10) until 4 am and will probably draw a big crowd and have a long line early.
Hint: They claim it is free before 10 pm.
Celebrities has their Pride Ball on Friday for $15 and on Saturday self proclaimed “Popular Pride” will cost $35 at the door and probably not be all that “popular” until very late but they are also open till 4 am. Typically the club draws a noticeably mixed crowd which may or may not be the case for this event.
Club 1181 (formerly Tight Lounge) is a new cozy bar that attacts a young and very hip crowd but does not have dancing. DJ starts at 5 pm so worth checking it out early in the night.
Or “Dance with Pride” for a more traditional ballroom/salsa event.
Oasis Cocktail Lounge is a mostly gay piano bar located upstairs on the corner over Denny’s. Saturday they will host a disco beer garden for charity from noon to 9 pm in the Denny’s back parking lot.
As if Pride is not enough to draw big crowds, Vancouver hosts a huge world finale Celebration of Light fireworks show on Saturday August 4 which will draw many, many thousands.
Good luck finding a place to stay . . .
