So now it’s Sunday morning and after a late night of bar hopping you are looking for a good place for brunch and there are so many places to choose from. But before you settle for the conventional offerings at the Broadway Grill or Julia’s, and risk receiving disappointing service, let’s review the other options.
GLO’S, on Olive Way just off Broadway, is the first place to come to mind. This place is pretty small but the food is done right. The wait can be so long on weekends that the common advice is to actually avoid it on weekends. If you can get in try it out.
B&O, across the street from Glo’s, has been around for 30 years and they still offer a satisfying breakfast and have completely mastered the coffee thing. Interesting interior with theater posters covering the walls. Pearl Jam came up with the name of their band while they were here so who knows what kind of ideas it may inspire in you. Rarely a wait to sit but not a place to go if you are in a hurry. Building owners want to tear them down in 6 months. B&O is hoping for another 3 years.
COASTAL KITCHEN on 15th is very popular and much more upscale but is also has a wait for brunch so get on their list early. While your waiting walk over to Victrola or Caffe Ladro for some of the best coffee in Seattle.
ROSEBUD has become popular for breakfast and brunch because its gay friendly and slightly upscale offerings. The wait here should be much better than Glo’s or Coastal Kitchen.
MARTIN’S OFF MADISON offers an all gay brunch experience only on weekends in its upscale piano lounge restaurant. Rarely a wait for seating.
611 SUPREME is a cozy French crêperie located next to R Place on Pine St. Brunch is only served on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CAFE PRESSE, across Madison St. on 12th Ave., serves the same light and inexpensive French fare all day long from 7 a.m. It is also cozy but nicely bright with its brand new interior. A comfortable bar is also available for those eating alone. Who says that you can’t have a glass of their French wine ($3.50) for breakfast?
EL GRECO on Broadway is all the rave now. Brunch is Friday – Sunday only. Their slightly upscale Mediterranean brunch menu assures that you will have a unique breakfast experience.
This would be the time to try out CRAVE. Typically there will be a long wait on weekends but check out their interesting brunch menu.
If touring around Pike Place Market this would be the time for two or more to have brunch on the patio at the PINK DOOR on a nice day or at CAFE CAMPAGNE.
Update: The Stranger Slog mentions that Smith is now serving brunch on weekends.
