GayWhistler presents its 16th annual Gay Ski Week – WinterPRIDE.
The WinterPRIDE festival, which runs February 3-10, 2008, represents the evolution of Whistler’s Gay Ski Week – building on the foundation of four key elements: Sports, Culinary, Health + Wellness, and Entertainment that include fantastical dance parties and social events. The festival also raises funds to various charities. WinterPRIDE is a natural extension of the summer pride events that are held around the world celebrating diversity and inclusiveness.
“It’s a celebration of diversity and inclusiveness where you can meet friends from all reaches of the planet all coming together to play in a magical winter wonderland! You do not have to ski to come to Whistler as there is just so much to do from zipping through the forest high above the tree tops on one of the canopy tours, dog sledding, or to one of the fun and interactive culinary programs,” says Sean Kearns, President and CEO of GayWhistler. “Last year we received such positive feedback and with early snow, and fantastic travel deals to Whistler this has never been a better time to visit us.”
Atlanta DJ David Knapp has been confirmed to headline WinterPRIDE’s final gala event – the Snowball Dance ‘Til Dawn on Saturday, February 9, from 10PM-6AM at the TELUS Whistler Conference Centre. That showcase event will be preceded on Friday evening by the MountainTOP party from 7PM-12AM at the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain, with the tunes being spun by New York and Atlanta-based DJ John Millier.
Check out the huge list of events covering every minute of each day all week long with something for everyone. Many of the events sold out last year and they expect even more people this year.
Space at Whistler is filling up so it is best to call ASAP. With all this additional snow the phones for this event have been busy. The call center can be reached at 1-866-787-1966. The message I received from organizers was pretty clear. “The Village is currently sitting around 65% occupied so there are still rooms available so long as our guests act quick they will still be able to find some accommodations but as each day passes and more inventory sells, the prices will start to climb and inventory will become limited. So the key message is: Book Now!”
