OUTfront Seattle calls for action for 11 in Cameroon

January 23, 2008• bySeattle Gay Scene

OUTfront Seattle, the local LGBT Amnesty International Action Team, is organizing the local gay community to demand action for several gay men arrested in Cameroon last year.

Eleven men were arrested and detained in Cameroon between 19 July and 1st September 2007 allegedly because they were suspected of engaging in acts of homosexuality.

Amnesty International is calling for their immediate and unconditional release.

Sometimes we take for granted how much easier we have it here in this country. So many people around the world suffer tremendous human rights abuses simply for being gay. Something they did not choose nor they can change. OUTfront Seattle is tracking new international legislation and reporting on abuses worldwide along with calls to action to the local LGBT community here in Seattle to help their brothers and sisters suffering around the world.
