The incident where four people were stabbed outside Neighbours Nightclub last Sunday February 17 reportedly was not a hate crime. The Internet was a flurry with activity last week with people writing about the incident implying it was the same kind of violence that has plagued Capitol Hill recently. The news article the I read mentioned that the victims and the suspect all knew each other and that is why I initially had backed off from mentioning the incident on here. Reports had said that the suspect “was getting beat up when the incident started” but Marcos Martinez at the Seattle Gay News seems to imply it was some kind of domestic dispute.
The entrance to Neighbours Nightclub is located in a popular alleyway that is well lighted and typically pretty crowded right next to Broadway Ave between Pike and Pine Streets. Just about every gay person in Seattle has walked through that alley at one point or another. Witnesses wanted to stress that despite the fact that Neighbours was having their popular Latin night on Sunday “the alleged perpetrator is reportedly not a Latino.”
