Alright, so he is just a special guest star in four performances of SMC’s aptly titled Spring concert, A Foreign Affaire. Together Rick and the Seattle Men’s Chorus will guide the audience on a virtual tour across Europe through cleverly coordinated travel tales, visual montages, folk songs, classical music, and contemporary hits. SMC artistic director Dennis Coleman is planning a full roster of rousing songs from popular European destinations; and Rick Steves integrates footage from his hit shows while tossing in a few charming anecdotes—some a bit too (eh hem) “charming” for prime time TV.
I am definitely looking forward to this concert since in the past their Spring Concert did not seem as fun and entertaining to me as their hilarious Christmas Concerts were. However, this one this year is going to be a treat. Remember that just last summer Rick Steves spoke at Seattle’s Hempfest.
A Foreign Affaire has just two performances in Seattle: Saturday March 29 @ 8 pm & Sunday March 30 @ 2 pm at McCaw Hall.
There will be a performance in Olympia on March 9 and Edmonds on March 15. Tickets for the Seattle shows go on sale on February 23 and more info is available on their website.
