There was celebrations and sorrow around gay Seattle as the NY Giants squeaked by Tom Brady and the Patriots in a see-saw nail biter of a 4th quarter. There were both winners and losers out in the clubs but the overall vibe was as if the majority of the crowd was pulling for the underdog NY Giants. Maybe because there is too much hype around New England. Or maybe they wanted the 1972 Miami Dolphins to remain the only undefeated team in history.
Elite manager, Kay, and patrons watching the 1st Quarter.
At Elite the party was going strong from the very beginning. They provided complimentary self serve nachos, chilli dogs and even smoked salmon.
Purr bartenders prepare pints and pitchers for the crowd.
At Purr the crowd was in a more relaxed party mode as the bar offered a menu of mexican items at special prices during the game.
The 3rd Floor of R Place got very full for the game.
At R Place the majority of the crowd arrived just a bit after the game started for the Gay World Series Softball fundraiser. By half-time the 3rd floor of R Place was very full of spectators including softball ambassadors from around the country.
The Sisters were in charge of fun at the cuff and delivered.
At Cuff the front bar was all abuzz about the Super Bowl as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence worked the crowd selling jello shots to raise funds to fight Multiple Sclerosis. Their $5 Mexican buffet was a great value with food contributed by La Puerta Restaurant to raise money to fight MS.
I assume a referee was on hand at the Cuff to call any “unnecessary roughness.”
I did not make it to Madison Pub but typically that bar is very full during televised sporting events.
Overall I felt slightly disappointed since there was still capacity for a lot more at all the clubs but those that did come out appeared to be having a lot of fun and were treated to the greatest 4th Quarter of a football game. I have to imagine that many people had their own Super Bowl Parties and choose to spend time with close friends in their own homes.
