Historic YAZ tour does not include Seattle

March 8, 2008• bySeattle Gay Scene

Probably old news to most people but Yazoo (or YAZ as they are known in the U.S.) the synthpop duo that has not gone on tour literally in 25 years (October 1982) is about to embark on a worldwide tour in about two dozen cities including Oakland, L.A. and Chicago. The duo includes Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke, who later became the main songwriter for Depeche Mode and later the other half of Erasure with singer Andy Bell.

Personally I believe that over his many years Vince Clarke has established himself as one of the most talented synthetic songwriters in the world. Certainly, “Upstairs at Eric” is on my favorite albums of all time list.
The tour coincides with the release of their new album “In Your Room” which is a four-disc box set re-mix of their past albums.

For over a decade, I have had fantasies about being able to see this duo together again in concert but never thought it would actually happen.

I can’t wait!! I wish they would have made a Seattle stop but it will make for a good reason to get out of town!
