With less than six months to go, the Gay Softball World Series 2008 in Seattle is quickly approaching. This will be a tremendous event for Seattle bringing in over 5,000 players, officials and their families, most of them gay and lesbian, with over 200 different teams from all over North America to the local area. This will prove to be one of the biggest gay sporting events in Seattle history.
The two most important elements that they need to make this Gay Softball World Series happen is volunteers and sponsors.
Volunteer Director Denny Krantz has this to say:
We need volunteers from Saturday August 23rd through Saturday August 31st. Positions will include: Registration, field captains, volunteers at the fields, opening ceremonies, and various events through out the week.
Host Committee Sponsorship Director Dan Cross continued:
We need about 300 volunteers — not all at once, but in total — even if a person can only voluntter for an hour here or there — we can find a way to get them involved!
They are also in need of cash. When Seattle was awarded this event the North American Gay Ameteur Athletic Association gave the Host Committee a daunting task of raising $100K to make it happen.
The Host City is responsible for Opening and Closing Ceremonies and events during the week, including the talent show midweek. So far they are halfway to raising their goal.
This means getting even more sponsors in addition to the ones they already have onboard.
One sponsorship opportunity is the 4000 Player Gift Bags for all of the athletes and officials. The sponsor that can make this possible would have their logos on them and be listed as a grand slam sponsor, with all the perks. It isn’t as simple as a plastic bag since athletes want a lasting impression of the Series and their trip to Seattle, and the sponsor attached to it will be forever associated with that memento
A benefit of being a sponsor is you can provide products to put in the player bags — coupons, giveaways, water bottle, t-shirts, etc.
Along with the different sponsorship tiers, they are specifically looking for sponsors for particular events and performers including the midweek Talent Show, the performer during the Opening Ceremonies, and a sponsor for the Closing Ceremonies.
Prime advertising opportunities and placements are also available for the Program.
All the athletes and spectators rely on the program for who to support, where to go, etc.
Individuals can pledge their support by becoming a “Gem Sponsor” which provides special recognition and perks depending upon the level.
