The Rainbow Wedding Network held their first Annual LGBT Wedding Expo at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront on Sunday; and what a beautiful expo is was. With generous support from the Seattle Gay News, the hotel’s conference room showcased all the glitz and glory that you would expect for a more “traditional” wedding.
The Seattle Times was there to cover the historic event. It appears that gays and lesbians in Seattle have taken a huge step towards being able to enjoy the same rights as everyone else. When they first planned such an expo back in 2000, couples laughed at the concept. Now such a reality is no longer a far-fetched notion.
The class and style presented by all of the vendors opened my eyes to the fact that gays and lesbians deserve every bit of the detail and style that is invested into a “traditional” wedding. This is an event that is bound to grow exponentially year after year. I even noticed a male-female couple perusing the expo. Who knows, maybe they were trying to snag a few unique ideas for their own wedding from gays and lesbians.
This expo is a welcomed addition to Seattle that is sure to be an annual tradition well into the future when LGBT weddings are no longer considered any different than the rest.
