It has now been 10 days now since Pike Street Fish Fry, 925 E Pike St. opened right next to Neumos. We were pleasantly surprised at how good everything tasted but the cost was a bit high.
They offer several “Housemade” dipping sauces made from their own pickled ingredients (see picture below) but don’t feel guilty just choosing the tarter, because it’s really good for tarter sauce. Unfortunately, the french fries come seperate and cost $4 – $5. The Spanish fries with sour cream and chili sauce was way too sweet for me but pretty unique and probably worth a try.
As you can see from the picture the portions are not huge but satisfying. The quality is excellent considering it is suppose to be quick street food. The smelt was the best value for $4. Most of the other fish options ranged from $5.50 – $8. But they have several unique seafood options such a octopus, fried oysters, catfish, ling cod, red snapper, halibut, spearfish and several others, served as medallions and accompanied with a couple deep fried lemon slices. They also have deep fried asparagus.
We paid over $24 for 3 people and shared an order of Spanish French Fries. Again a bit high for basic street food but definitely worth a try for yourself. However, Cap to the Hill blog was not too happy with the place. It looks to me like they will be opening at 5 pm until very late everyday.
you’re darn tootin. we’re stickin to our cheap skanky ways and venturing to dick’s next time!
