In a developing situation straight out of Moscow, The Stranger is reporting that J. Steve Mayo has been told that he will be arrested if he and 20 other bare bicyclists participate in the parade. Mayo and the rest of the “Body Pride Ride” paint their bare bodies and cycle with the parade in a fashion similar to Fremont’s Summer Solstice Parade.
On Wednesday, pride parade attorney David Coffman informed Mayo that—according to one of the parade organizers—an SPD officer threatened to arrest the cyclists if there was a complaint, the SPD would take parade organizer to the SPD’s West Precinct.
According to the article the police have “flatly denied any officer had made that threat” and SPD Deputy Chief Nicholas Metz said that Seattle’s nude cycling-policy has not changed.
This should be one hell of a Parade this year!
