Amber has come out strong against illegal downloading/sharing. Over the last few years, Amber has spoken out about the negative effect it has had on everyone.
In a message from her record label they stated that:
She has taken harsh criticism for speaking out but she is a woman with a mission and conviction…We are ALL effected! It is like a DJ being replaced by a jukebox!!!
Amber’s label JMCA has worked relentlessly to strike down illegal activity.
Instead of spending our time here at JMCA productively, we spent hours shooting down illegal links and writing mp3 sharers…We could have been in the black numbers by now already if all would have been paid for with 99 cents and plan a new release but instead we are extremely stressed out and Amber got literally physically ill from all this illegal activity.
The sad part is that we know at JMCA that we have a legit hit record on our hands but are currently denied an official one because of all this illegal activity.
And they will not rest until the music pirates are defeated:
We will keep fighting.
We need to stand up and it is time to speak up and the more that come together- the better- we cannot be scared anymore- it is either us or them…and the longer we sit back with tolerance- the worse it will get..think about the resistance fighters in world war 2 who gave their lives for the right cause…if it weren’t for them- Hitler would have won…strange example but you have to stand up for what you believe in and sometimes take some heat. It is called INTEGRITY.
Amber asks that you keep forwarding any illegal links and emails to Amberphoria2@aol.com.

Over 20 years ago I would copy my vinyl LP’s onto cassette in order to protect the LP’s since were easily scratched but I had purchased the LP’s myself and the cassette was for my own personal use.
I don’t know if it is different in the dance genre but the indie rock and pop punk scene, bands really depend on illegal downloads for a song to really become a hit. Bands pray for their song to become a hit amongst the music bloggers. Musicians don’t make any money off albums sales anyways, they make there money off touring and publishing. So I find that entire rant by Amber to be really silly but again I could be completely wrong, maybe the dance genre is different. I worked as head of marketing for Drive-Thru Records which was under the Geffen and MCA umbrella. So when I say bands and labels secretly pray they become the talk of the music bloggers I really mean it. But I can only speak from the indie rock pop punk genres
