It’s in the Seattle PI. Building owners were attempting to terminate the lease of Neighbours Nightclub back on August 31st. But now Neighbours Nightclub is fighting back and filed a lawsuit on September 23rd to remain open and leave the lease intact.
A letter was issued to Neighbours by the owners stating that their lease would be terminated because of several violations.
For instance, the letter said, the lease calls for the club to be used as a tavern, commissary, restaurant, sidewalk cafe, amusement arcade or cabaret.
“The current operation of the premises as a dance club is not a permitted use on behalf of the owners,” the letter said.
However, the club has been a dance club since it opened back in 1983.
…the longest continually operating dance club in Seattle.
Also the club had made improvements to the main floor and the basement without notifying the owners. And in March the club was cited for allowing “liquor to leave the premises, which broke a lease provision that the club comply with the law.”
According to the article, Neighbours attorney Mark Kimball would not speculate on why the owners are trying to terminate the lease now.
