On Saturday, November 15, the creators of the monthly lesbian night Vibrator present The Lady with the Lamp, a benefit to promote HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and community.
Here is a message from Vibrator:
During September’s Vibrator, a friend of ours performed CPR at Vibrator on a man who’d collapsed. She then found out that her act had put her at risk for HIV, so she headed to the ER to be given a prescription for $2400 worth of anti-retroviral drugs. We want to support her and any other member of our community who acts selflessly in a moment of crisis. We also want to educate ourselves around CPR and HIV/AIDS awareness so that we are equipped and prepared to intervene when crises arise, to care for ourselves and for others through the multitude of choices we make in our lives. And we want to celebrate the community that makes all of this possible!
On September 16 a man was found lying on the floor unconscious, not breathing and bleeding from his mouth. Moments after performing CPR our good Samaritan discovered he was HIV-positive. Sadly, the man never regained consciousness, and passed away four days after he was revived. The fundraiser will also include a living memorial him. More background about what happened can be found at the Seattle Gay News in the twelfth item down from the top.
So please attend a special night of Vibrator, Seattle’s naughtiest lesbian night, on Saturday, November 15 at the Eagle, 314 E Pike. $10 from 7pm – 11pm. Featuring fabulous DJs, entertainment by Vibrator’s resident go-go troupe, educational booths, and fabulous raffle prizes from local businesses.
