The recount is in from Spokane’s 6th State Legislative District and Democrat John Driscoll has beat anti-gay Republican John Ahern by 72 votes. Of course, Ahern was opposed to domestic parterships because he felt he might be able to claim his female dog as his partner and “would be collecting dollars from that.”
He was quoted as saying,
Now, do we have a mechanism whereby the State would come by and double check me to make sure that I do have a true domestic partner that I don’t have a dog?
A Republican challenger won in the other race for State Rep. so Aherns must have been particularly abrasive for this Republican leaning district.
