Boycott of Sordid Lives The Series?

January 17, 2009• byBill W

A Florida Church is pushing to boycott all advertisers that support the Sordid Lives Series. They are saying the “Pro-homosexual TV show bashes Baptists” and that Dell Shores husband (Jason Dottley) was responsible for the end of his last marriage to a women. When will the Church stop getting in our business?

It’s amazing how many people dedicate there lives to trying to take our rights away. You can read more about it here and there is a video from Jason where he calls David Caton, executive director of this Chruch here.

thanks for sharing this story! we need all the help we can to defeat this type of public hatred. the message that this sends to children is devastating. Which reminds me, everyone watch Prayers for Bobby on Lifetime at the end of the month. it stars Sigourney Weaver and is based on a true story. If you haven’t read the book, read it too 🙂 I saw a screening of the film this week and it’s very powerful. It was a catalyst to my being so activated by this organizations position.
    all my best,

Seriously, this post is worse than their bulletin. This is a silly little boycott not “taking our rights away”. Appreciate the sentiment but this post is ultra paranoid.

I don’t think it’s paranoid. I’m from California and believe me, churches WILL DO THEIR BEST to try and take our rights away if it suits their political agenda.

They just love it when someone sits around passively saying it’s just a “silly little boycott.” We have to speak up loud and consistently against all threats to our livelihood in order to avoid more Prop 8 situations.
