The long anticipation is over. The Oscars begin today at 5pm with red carpet events beginning at early as 3pm. I have several events in Seattle listed here but there are many others around. I will try to track them down and get them on here a little later today. I am trying not to get my hopes up too high about Milk because I cannot help but think they are leaning towards Slumdog for the top award. Anyways, should be an unusually interested Academy Awards this year. Be sure to read the Academy Awards preview and predictions over at Seattle Gay News.
Gay City Academy Awards Party @ SoDo Park: 4:30pm – $20.
A Night At The Oscars @ Purr Cocktail Lounge – 4pm. No Cover.
Purr & SGN, host The Academy Awards on 3 plasma screen TVs.
The BottleNeck Lounge: Academy Awards Party 5pm.
Doors open at 4pm. This is a smaller venue.
Madison Pub is also having an Oscar party broadcasting the awards on 6 TVs and a ballot contest with a 1st prize of $100. Specials and door prizes all evening.
R Place is also showing the Oscar awards on the TV and is offering free hot dogs and $1.50 nachos. And nothing says Oscar night like nachos.
The Elite, 1520 E. Olive Way also will be showing the Academy Awards on their TVs and offering their Happy Hour from 5-8pm. And Sunday is Service Industry day so if you can prove you are a server (pay stub, license, etc.) you get $2 Bud/Bud Light, $3.50 micros, and doubles for the price of single all day long.
Wildrose will be showing the Oscars on their flat screen in the main bar (They will be having something else on the big screen).
FYI, later tonight they will have the L Word on the big screen at 8pm and 10pm.
Changes in Wallingford is broadcasting it on the big screen and has Happy Hour all night with Bud/Bud Light for $2.25 or $6 pitchers, $3 pints of micro beer, $2.75 well drinks and several other specials until their 2am close.
