“Anti-gay advocates hope to place on the November ballot a measure to repeal legislation passed this week granting same-sex couples in Washington state all the benefits of marriage — except the name.”
The Faith and Freedom Network will go after homosexual marriage…uhm, yeah…they mean Washington’s domestic partnership law.
We will seek to overturn it by referendum.
Faith and Freedom Network said the following on their blog.
I do not believe a majority Washingtonians believe in homosexual marriage, nor do they want to become a national attraction for homosexuals from our states and countries.
The group claims that domestic partnerships actually “elevates homosexual relationships to that of traditional marriage.” Really? I am betting most rational thinkers would disagree because, sadly, domestic partnerships ARE NOT THE SAME as marriage.
Realizing the only way to attack and destabilize gay and lesbian families and their children, along with raising lots of money in the process, is to equate domestic partnerships with marriage, I am sure we will see the word “marriage” over and over again. Which is fine. The history of such attacks in this state says that not only will they lose but they will only make gay and lesbian families in this state so much stronger as everyone, gays and straights, will come together in a cohesive movement. In the end, the attack on LGBT families will prove to be one step forward but several steps back for the “Freedom” network.
The Faith and Freedom group is made up of three parts; The Faith and Freedom Network that focuses on lobbying in support of Judeo-Christian values, The Faith and Freedom PAC helps elect candidates that reflect these values, and The Faith and Freedom Foundation that conducts youth events through their “Change Your Culture” program, creating a Biblical worldview and assisting youth in meaningful career choices.
