On July 11, 2009 R Family Vacations is coming to Seattle for an exciting all inclusive LGBT Cruise uniquely designed for everyone:
R Family Vacations is truly the most inclusive GLBT vacation offered. All of our vacations are designed for gays, lesbians, their families, and their friends. Everyone is welcome — singles, couples without children, couples with children, groups of friends, grandparents, and almost any other family configuration you can think of. We have hosted three-month-old babies and 80-something grandparents.
This is going to be “The gay-cation of a lifetime”, a 7 Day Cruise, July 11-18, 2009, traveling from Seattle to Alaska and celebrating freedom and pride aboard the Norwegian Star.
Unique from most “gay cruises”, R Family Vacations has chartered the entire ship and typically their cruises are evenly mixed between men and women. Typically, their cruises include a lot of gay and lesbian families with children but for some reason, on this cruise out of Seattle, not as many children have booked as usually do. However, there will be plenty of activities on board for both kids and adults too. Even single travelers are welcome.
We offer the opportunity to meet other single travelers with our singles mixers, dinners, and special events. We offer events for Bears and events for our little ones!
This cruise includes meals. And with no set dining times, dining partners or dress codes, you are always free to eat whatever you want, whenever you want and with whomever you want. Not only will you be able to select from 13 dining options with cuisine choices from all around the world, you’ll also have the freedom to dine whenever you want with 24-hour room service plus two cafes that offer savory choices ’round the clock. Now several of the higher end restaurants require an additional charge per person ranging from $25 for Teppanyaki to $15 for Sushi to $10 for La Trattoria. However, Aqua, Versailles, Blue Lagoon and Market Cafe (Buffet) have no additional charge and are included. Dining details are here.
The entertainment is pretty amazing featuring headliner Caroline Rhea along with comedians Judy Gold, Ross (The Intern) Mathews from The Tonight Show, Julie Goldman from The Big Gay Sketch Show and Steve Moore. There is tons of Broadway Theater on board and Brian Nash at the Piano Bar. DJs will include the incredible David Knapp (Atlanta) and Cuban Pete (NYC). Members from GALA Chorus from around the country will perform as well as Seattle’s own Captain Smartypants. Also attending is 90’s motivational sensation Susan Powter and Sharon Gless, who played the gay supportive and somewhat overbearing mother in the TV series Queer as Folk.

Now because this cruise leaves in less than two weeks you need to book really soon. But this kind of last minute trip is easier for those of us that already live in Seattle. There are some special rates but you need to move quickly because I am not sure how long they will be offering them and they expect to fill the last of the available rooms at these prices:
Inside Cabins – $399 ($798 per couple) + taxes and fess
Outside Cabins – $599 ($1198 per couple) + taxes and fess
Balcony Cabins – $799 ($1598 per couple) + taxes and fees
Here are some of the important details I know of:
In addition, Government Taxes and Fees are Currently $178 per person. And the above prices ($399 – $799) are per person based on double occupancy. Additional passengers beyond the first two (3rd, 4th, etc.) are $399 + Government Taxes and Fees. Children under 2-years-old are $140 + Government Taxes and Fees but children over 2-years old pay the regular rates. A passport is required for travel in international waters but for this cruise a notarized birth certificate (with the raised seal, no photocopies) along with a valid government issued picture ID will suffice. Gratuities will be charged at $12 per person per day. We are past the 60 day cancellation date so the cruise will be prepaid. Be sure to check with R Family Vacations for specific details.
