For those of you that missed the Out Magazine Basil Hayden event last night, it was quite a nice intimate affair. “The Out Style Set” featured the work of LeeAnn Baker Steding of LeeAnn Baker Interiors. First time I have been to the downtown lounge called Vessel, next to the 5th Avenue Theatre, and it’s quite swanky but surprisingly friendly. Not to mention that Basil Hayden happens to be my most favorite Bourbon in the world because of its smooth yet distinctive flavor.
For three hours on Thursday evening there was an open Basil Hayden bar with four cleverly designed Bourbon cocktails and even a few appetizers to boot during the private event which was marketed towards the readers and subscribers of the gay style magazine Out. My favorite drink is Basil Hayden on the rocks or should I say rock, as in one large and completely round frozen sphere of ice placed carefully inside my lowball glass.
Last year Out Magazine featured their Basil Hayden Tastemaster events in Seattle with the final event featuring Christian Siriano of Project Runway in June, 2008.
Speaking for myself, after the state’s recent hike in liquor taxes on August 1, I sure hope that Basil Hayden will have more of these events in the future.
