Seattle welcomes Elton John and Billy Joel for a concert of historic proportions: Their Face 2 Face Tour. Sir Elton John is coming off his recent Grammy appearance with Lady Gaga and has been a gay icon since before such a thing even existed. His music literally spans every generation and I would need more than a blog posting to even touch on the majority of his accomplishments since he first reached the Billboard Top 20 forty years ago. But back then, like David Bowie, Elton identified himself as bisexual before publicly announcing that he was comfortable being gay in the 1980’s.
Of course, he made headlines and angered the gays in the wake of Prop 8 when he publicly stated that gay people should not get married and should get a civil partnership instead. Ironically, the following year he was devastated when Ukrainian law prevented him from adopting a 14-month-old child partly due to his martial status.
Reports from other cities is that the concert is excellent and the good news is that great tickets are still available. The bad news is that those good tickets will cost you $200 at face value. These are makeup concerts from November of last year, tonight, February 3 and Saturday February 6, 2010 at Key Arena. Check out the tickets that are remaining for Wednesday here and Saturday here.
