It’s become a regular monthly event as the popularity just grows and grows. This Thursday February 25, 2010 is another installment of “Queer Mixer” at Watertown Coffee. What makes the Queer Mixer so unique is that the setting is unlike any bar event and is open to all ages. However, the coffeehouse is also a restaurant, so liquor is available as well.
The Seattle Gay News interviewed Marisa Hackettm the creator of Queer Mixer.
“The bar scene for Queer folks is often frustrating to me because I feel like the same people show up and stare at each other from across the room in separate friend groups, or heavy drinking is involved and the main purpose is to hook up. I wanted a space where folks could come to be casually social, meet new people, and not feel pressured to drink,” Hackett told SGN.
