They did two sold out shows at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC last week and performed at SXSW in Austin over the weekend and debuted a number of new songs…the original scuttlebutt was that the new album would be out this month, but without any confirmation from their label or even advance word on the album name or the first single, this seems very unlikely. (And, the Sisters enigmatic website doesn’t offer any clues other than they are obviously hard at work on the album…) Latest gossip has a projected debut date of July. Can we really wait that much longer? It’s been FOUR freaking years since Ta-Dah; we are starved for new Scissor Sister material! And, with a projected July release date, it stands to reason a tour will follow…my best guess is that the album will be announced in the next couple weeks with tour news to follow. And it seems unlikely that Seattle would get passed up from a US tour; we’re obviously home to a huge Sister fanbase and Jake Shears connection to Seattle doesn’t hurt, (he went to high school here and briefly was a Cap Hill resident before heading off to NYC)…
Here’s a YouTube video from the show in NYC to help tide you over…it looks like Mr Shears has been bulking up…he’s gone from stringbean to beefcake in the last few months. Yum.
